Honda CBR250R 2013 Colors – Click to enlarge
It’s been a year and a half since Honda had launched one of its brilliant Masterpieces, TheHonda CBR250R, which created a huge wave not just in India, but also around the world. And later on followed the CBR150R, the younger brother of the 250R to the Indian market with new colors and outstanding build quality. Well now it is the turn of the bigger brother to get more aggressive as Honda has officially announced all 4 new colors to the CBR250R. The new colors are Black, Red, Pearl White/ Blue/Red and Honda’s favourite REPSOL color. The new colors looks brilliant and will attract more buyers and bike lovers, especially those who always wanted a REPSOL, what better can you expect?
And personally being the CBR owner, I really wish I had all these colors when Honda launched this bike in 2011. I might have had to spend more time deciding on the color than on the amount of time I had taken to zero down – which bike.. ;) But on the downside, it doesn’t seem like an upgrade and other than the new colors, nothing else has changed. Anyways, what do you guys feel about the new colors on the CBR250R??

India to Become World’s Largest Two Wheeler Market

As reported by BT, China, world’s number 1 two wheeler market will cede its first position to India this year. China is world’s largest two wheeler market with sales of more than 14 million units last year. However, this year China has imposed regulation which has limited the use of motorcycles in urban centers. As per the projection made by Yamaha Motor Corporation of Japan, the country will see demand going down to 11.9 million units this year compared to 14 million units of last year.

Two wheeler market in India in 2012 – market size will increase

In comparison to China India may see sales of 14 million units this year compared to 13 million units of last year.  By the end of this year India will become world’s largest two wheeler market. It is interesting to know that India will gain this position from China, the country which is aiming number 1 spot in each area.  Indian two wheeler market is dominated By Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Auto, HMSI and TVS Motors. Suzuki Motorcycle, Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mahindra two wheelers, Royal Enfield and Piaggio are small players of this market.
It is to be noted that world’s three largest two wheeler market belongs to Asia continent.  Currently the first place belongs to China with annual sales of 14 million units, second to India with annual sales of 13 million units and third to Indonesia with annual sales of 8 million units. These countries represent more than 60% market of global two wheeler market.  The year 2012 seems to be challenging for every nation.  Only India will post positive growth among these three nations.

KTM Motorcycles to hit India...

Bajaj Auto which owns more than 47 % in KTM Power Sports AG of Austria is readying itself for launching higher displacement motorcycles from KTM base in India. Bajaj Auto will flood supersports segment with a variety of KTM motorcycles which goes up to 1200cc. Some of these motorcycles are truly remarkable and known worldwide.
K Srinivas, President, Motorcycle, Bajaj Auto said “We introduced our first product Duke 200 from KTM stable four months back. The response has been very well. We are selling about 1000 units a month. We want to exploit this supersports segment with multiple products from KTM stable. The KTM products are built on same line of Chakan unit as the Pulsar. The existing products are being exported to Japan and Eurpore. KTM has its own network in Europe and US. KTM is the second largest selling brand in Europe after BMW. We have to just send it to them as CKD (Completely Knocked Down).”  He also added that the company has a definite plan to create its space in Indian supersports segment, however he did not share those details.
Bajaj Auto currently produces KTM Duke 200 and Duke 125cc at the Chakan plant. The company is also planning to produce more KTM variants at the Chakan Plant.  Bajaj Auto’s this step will definitely boost volumes of supersports segment which is growing around 40% growth rate in India. This is a very small portion of total two wheeler sales in India, however as the market in Europe and US has saturated for supersports motorcycle manufacturers, emerging countries are the best place to look for future growth.
It is also evident that all Indian motorcycle manufacturers will have capacity to produce reliable higher displacement motorcycles in years to come. TVS recently announced that it is in process of making collaboration with German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad. Hero Motocorp already tied up with Erik Buell Racing and also looking for other companies for collaboration. This is a clear indication that Japanese two wheeler manufacturer who rules the world’s two wheeler market, will have tough time from Indian two wheeler manufacturers in years to come.

KTM Duke Submerged in Water, Will it ride through?

KTM Duke Exhaust Submerged in knee depth water
When we first time saw the KTM Duke underbelly exhaust, everybody doubted about its performance in rainy reason. I was also surprised that would it be able to perform well in India, where you have to ride your motorcycle in knee deep water in a rainy season. However, the below video can show you the power of KTM Duke’s Underbelly Exhaust. Pulsar 200NS also has the same exhaust so we can assume that it will be as powerful as KTM Duke’s Exhaust.

Pulsar 200NS Launching in Maharashtra next week [New Pulsar 2012]

When the 1st time Bajaj Auto revealed Pulsar 200NS, thrilled bike enthusiasts in the country began waiting for Pulsar 200NS to hit the showroom. Bajaj Auto first declared that it will launch Pulsar 200NS sometime in April. However, the motorcycle has not hit showroom till date. But, the wait for Pulsar 200NS is over now. According to Rajiv Bajaj’s exclusive interview with CNBC TV-18, Pulsar 200NS will hit the showroom in Maharashtra in the next week. The company will launch Pulsar 200NS in phased manner and it is expected to be available countrywide by the month of July.

2012 Pulsar 200NS Price in India

He said that Pulsar 200NS will be priced just under Rs. 1 lakh and the company is aiming to produce 2,500 units in the month of June and then the company will produce it according to demand from the month of July. The export of Pulsar 200NS will start from the month of August. The company expects to sell around 10,000 -15,000 units a month after 2-3 months period.  In another interview, Rajiv Bajaj said that the current Pulsar series will be continued and the company will launch a new Pulsar every year from now onwards.

As we know that Bajaj Auto and KTM are developing an engine with the capacity of above 350cc, one can hope that the next Pulsar will incorporate bigger engine and with every passing year the engine capacity will be increased.  It is also interesting to see how Pulsar 200NS will be received in the export market. Pulsar 135 LS is a big hit in the export market and it is very well received in Asia’s most competitive and technology advanced market Indonesia.  The same is expected with Pulsar 200NS. However, only time can tell us the true story.

But, the bike has not so far seen a competitor on the Indian roads.  Though we’ve the CBR250 in the Indian market, it did not manage to eat up the Ninja’s sales just for the fact that the former houses a single cylinder engine and the latter a twin engine. Two is always better than one, right?
Now, here comes the final competitor to the Baby Ninja. The best part about Hyosung as a brand is the fact that it is the only competitor for both the Ninjas in India. Hyosung GT250 to Hit India by APRIL 2012..

Hyosung GT250 for India

The options are just going to get more. Industries sources confirm the Hyosung GT 250 will enter India March 2012. We believe the Indian 250cc segment will eventually one day fight it out like how the small car hatchback segment fights it out in the Indian car market.
For the moment Hyosung’s portfolio in India boost the GT650N(Naked), GT650R(Full Fairing) and the cruiser ST7. The 250cc entry by Hyosung will be competitive for sure.
The GT250 is said to come in two variants like the GT650 i.e. Naked, Full Fairing. One should not forget the Hyosung 250cc known as the comet tried its entry a few years back in India via Kinetic Motors partnership. Anyone who had Hyosung bikes those days will surely remember it was bitter it terms of servicing, parts. Hyosung seems to be happy with their current partnership with Garware Motors. So far Garware Motors have been doing their job.
